SWAP (16+)

This SWAP (Sector-based work academy programme) course is designed for learners of all experience levels. Core sessions will take place at Future Yard on Monday and Tuesday daytimes for 6 weeks. The next course begins on 12th January 2026, with an introductory session on 8th January.

This course is designed for learners of all experience levels. Core sessions will take place at Future Yard on Monday and Tuesday daytimes, 9:30am to 4:30pm.

There will also be further work experience outside of these times where you will get the opportunity to shadow our team of skilled events and production staff.

A sector-based work academy programme (SWAP) gives jobseekers who are 16 and over, and claiming benefits, the opportunity to apply for jobs. This SWAP course is a partnership between Future Yard and Jobcentre Plus.

The course is eligible for people based in the Liverpool City Region aged between 16 and 24.

From sound engineers to event managers, lighting designers to box office, this exciting programme will introduce you to the range of job roles and skills you need to start a career in the live music industry.

Sound Check will support you to build your skills and knowledge in a real industry setting. A core programme of workshops runs alongside the opportunity to gain hands-on skills at live events, which you can take to work on bigger events and festivals as your experience grows.
