Future Yard is one of the most exciting new music venues in the UK, a building that re-imagines the role of a live music venue, providing live industry training and a regional hub for artist development. Our community venue brings some of today’s most exciting new artists to the Wirral, while at the same time providing key early performance opportunities for emerging local musicians.
Sound Check is delivered as a Skills Bootcamp through the Department for Education’s Skills For Life initiative, helping young people to gain the skills required for the modern world of work. It is delivered in partnership with Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, with aim of helping participants to start on a pathway to a career in one of the region’s growing sectors.

Sound Check is a training programme like no other – built by the live music industry, for the live music industry. It’s designed to introduce people to the skills they need to pursue careers in the sector, leading to paid employment or further study.
The live music industry is worth £1.1bn each year to the UK economy and is exported around the world. It has been growing at 10% year on year and offers hugely fulfilling creative careers across a range of job roles.
Like many industries, COVID-19 provides a short term challenge. But, the live music industry remains a hugely significant industry locally, within the Liverpool City Region, and nationally. It will return, and Sound Check is an opportunity to develop the skills required to flourish within it as it does.
Sound Check will introduce you to the skills that could kickstart a career in the live music industry – from large concerts to festivals, these skills are transferrable across the world.
